White Dresser --> Beachy Boho Dresser
This solid pine dresser was given to me by a family who wanted to free up some space in her guest room.
The only repairs needed were minor such as replacing missing screws on a few drawer slides and tightening a support leg on the bottom.
What was time-consuming was the thick paint. Somewhere in its lifetime, this dresser was scribbled on in permanent marker, and painted white to cover it up. The white paint cleaned it up and looked nice, but was very thick and had a lot of drips in the decorative details and along the bottom.
It took some time stripping, scraping and cleaning this out.
I was going for a light Sage color with a bare-wood base. I chose Country Chic Happy Hour, which in some light appears more blue, others more green. I like to think of it as a sea glass color which goes along with the Coastal/Beachy vibes for this piece.
My husband trimmed off the scalloped bottom to give the base an updated look and I stained it using Minwax Pickled Oak.
The project was finished with Varathane Triple Thick Polyurethane, slightly watered down and sprayed on.
The details were accented with Decor Art Gold Metallic Lustre Wax.
Self-adhesive Wallpaper from Amazon was used for drawer liners.
This dresser was in good shape from the beginning, just needed some modernizing. What do you think of the Before and After?
